What is a gate valve?
This gate valve from Dafugui is a gate valve with a gate as its opening and closing element. Its movement direction is perpendicular to the fluid direction. It can only be fully open or fully closed; it cannot be used for regulation or throttling. Gate valves achieve sealing through the contact between the valve seat and the gate. The sealing surface is usually overlaid with metal materials to increase wear resistance, such as 1Cr13, STL6, or stainless steel. Depending on the type of gate, gate valves are classified as rigid gate valves and resilient gate valves. What are the advantages of gate valves?
1. Low flow resistance. The internal medium passage of the valve body is straight, allowing for linear medium flow and low flow resistance.
2. Easier to open and close. Compared to globe valves, the gate's movement direction is perpendicular to the medium flow direction, whether opening or closing.
3. Larger height and longer opening/closing time. The gate's opening and closing stroke is large, and its lifting and lowering are achieved via a screw.
4. Less prone to water hammer. This is due to the longer closing time.
5. Medium can flow in either direction, making installation easy. The gate valve passage is symmetrical on both sides.
6. Smaller structural length (distance between the two connecting end faces of the shell).
